On 19 September 2024, our long-standing hosting partner Hetzner invited us to the Hetzner Summit at their Falkenstein site in the picturesque Vogtland region of Germany. With great anticipation and several questions about the future of infrastructure and service offerings, we made our way to the data center. On site, we not only enjoyed an exciting exchange with other users, but also gained a deeper insight into Hetzner’s sustainable solutions. A topic that is also very important for TOPSIM.
A Warm Welcome and an Open Dialogue
The day began with a friendly welcome and was characterized by lively exchanges in a relaxed atmosphere over delicious food. Particularly valuable was the direct contact with Hetzner employees, from the technicians to the sustainability officer and the management. The focus was not on product promotion, but on constructive dialogue about current and future developments. Our feedback was also very much appreciated.
Focus on Sustainability
One focus of the summit was on sustainable data centers. Hetzner presented innovative technologies and solutions designed to maximize efficiency and environmental friendliness. The sophisticated architecture of the buildings was particularly impressive. It allows natural convection of the air flows for the main cooling of the server systems. This clever design significantly reduces energy requirements. Active cooling is only required on 2% of the days of the year. This is a remarkable figure in the field of server cooling.
Hetzner’s commitment to sustainability is not only impressive. It is also one of the main reasons why we chose this hosting partner. The data center uses customized server rack platforms developed in-house. These not only increase efficiency, but also contribute to an overall greener operation. Highest Standards of Data and Operational Security
In addition to sustainability, data security also played a central role at the Hetzner Summit 2024. As a provider based in Germany, Hetzner meets all the requirements for DIN ISO/IEC 27001 certification, guaranteeing the highest standards of IT security. The protection of sensitive customer data is a top priority for us. By working with Hetzner, we ensure that user data complies with strict European data protection regulations.
Another focus was the reliability of the data centers. During an impressive tour of the facilities, we were able to see for ourselves how Hetzner minimizes potential risks such as power failures or hardware defects through redundant systems and extensive precautions. These measures ensure smooth operations. They give us as a company the peace of mind that our data is always secure and available.
Why TOPSIM Counts on Hetzner
When we developed our TOPSIM-Cloud, the question arose as to how we could guarantee our users the highest level of data security and compliance with European data protection regulations. After a thorough analysis of the provider landscape, we chose Hetzner – and for good reason. The data center operator not only offers innovative solutions in the area of sustainability, but also the highest security standards and strict compliance with the guidelines of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). As a company based entirely in Germany, Hetzner is the ideal hosting partner for us to protect our users’ data.
Our visit to the Hetzner Summit 2024 confirmed our decision. Hetzner’s commitment to sustainable technologies and their dedication to the highest security standards reflect exactly the values that are important to us at TOPSIM.
