In TOPSIM on Demand – Business Challenge, participants take on the role of the management of an innovative backpack manufacturer. During the course of the simulation, participants have access to a virtual advisor, who supports them with their decisions and provides evaluation reports. A ranking graph allows each participant or team to compare their success value with the competition.

The management simulation depicts six economic regions with different framework conditions. Acting as the executive managers of a washing machine manufacturer, the participants initially work in their home region only. Soon the internationalisation activities of the companies take centre stage.

Players of TOPSIM – People Management act as change consultants. In this case, the task is to advise the newly appointed managers on how they can guide their department through a period of change in the role of a change agent. Approximately 35 different interventions or communication measures can be selected, with different time scales, scopes and impacts. The manager‘s goal is to inform and motivate the employees as well as to guide them to a level of self-commitment which enables them to improve their performance and anchor the change sustainably.

This advanced, competitive logistics game simulates a manufacturing company in the printing industry. Over 50 students from Germany, Russia and the USA played TOPSIM – Scale Up in the international seminar. The complexity of the business simulation was just right to link the theoretical business aspects of the lectures and to apply them in practice.
